Glossary
What is context rot?
The decline in answer quality as a conversation fills up with old, irrelevant material.
Long conversations accumulate superseded drafts, abandoned tangents and pages that stopped being relevant ten messages ago. All of it still competes for the model's attention.
The symptom is a model that repeats an earlier version of your requirements, or answers the question you asked before the one you just asked.
The fix is a fresh conversation with only the material that still matters, which is fast when sending a tab set takes one click.
In practice
A chat that keeps reintroducing a constraint you dropped twenty messages ago is showing context rot, not misunderstanding.
